The 2014 edition of San Diego’s ‘Festival of Sail’ kicked-off Thursday with a Tall Ship Parade. The parade formed near Point Loma, passed Shelter and Harbor Islands and ended at the Embarcadero, where many of the ships may be boarded by the public. The Festival runs until Labor Day and includes all manner of things from more tall ship parades, mock cannon battles, ships open for tours, vendors and displays.
The Embarcadero will be wall-to-wall people all weekend, with little or no parking available, but the Festival is well worth fighting the crowds. Have someone drop you off nearby, or take the trolley and do a bit of walking!
