San Diego River Trail Extension launches with a grand opening ceremony

Lakeside's River Park Conservancy is hosting the grand opening of the new San Diego River Trail Extension on March 8, 2014. The grand opening ceremony is open to the general public and will take place at the Lakeside Baseball Park (10030 Marathon Parkway, Lakeside CA 92040) beginning at 9am PST.

The ceremony marking the hard work and dedication put in by Lakeside's River Park volunteers and staff is free to attend and is even open to friendly four-legged family members as long as they're kept on a leash. In addition to the opening ceremony, attendees will be able to make a bird feeder or just explore nature by taking a walk on the extended trail.

The Lakeside River Park Conservancy was founded in 2001 and is dedicated to improving the habitat of native plants, animals, and birds.

The non-profit organization's raising funds to restore and maintain the San Diego River stretch from the El Capitan Dam to Santee. Over $16 million dollars has been raised through grants, corporate donations, and individuals since the Lakeside River Park Conservancy was founded.
