San Diego police probe shooting in Fairmount Village

A 27-year-old man is on life support after being found shot in the Fairmount Village neighborhood Tuesday night, San Diego police said.

Officers were sent to the 4600 block of Landis Street to investigate reports of gunshots around 9:30 p.m., Homicide Lieutenant Kevin Rooney said.

They found the man lying on the sidewalk.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene before taking him to an area trauma center, where he was placed on life support, Rooney said.

The investigation thus far shows the victim was walking alone when he had an exchange of words with two males standing at the corner of Menlo Avenue and Landis Street.

The victim crossed the street before the gunshots were reported.

The suspects were last seen running northbound on 47th Street.

Police had no motive for the shooting early in the investigation.

They are urging anyone with information to call the San Diego police homicide unit at (619) 531-2293 or San Diego Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
