The San Diego Padres batting order has been revealed for Opening Day against the LA Dodgers. At the top of the San Diego Padres batting order for 2014 will be shortstop Everth Cabrera as he tries to put together a good season. According to a report from the team on Sunday (March 30), he will be followed by right fielder Chris Denorfia and then third baseman Chase Headley. Headley had a rough 2013 season after posting All-Star numbers in 2012, so he will really try to bounce back. That could be very important to the success of the team.

Batting cleanup for the team is second baseman Jedd Gyroko and he is followed by first baseman Yonder Alonso and left fielder Tommy Medica. That puts center fielder Will Venabale in the seven slot and then catcher Rene Rivera eighth. Opening night starting pitcher Andrew Cashner will bat ninth as the team tries to start off on the right foot. Injuries to some key players led to this lineup for the game on Sunday night, as Carlos Quentin will be on the disabled list for a while.

For the LA DOdgers, Carl Crawford is back and he will be hitting leadoff and playing left field. He is followed by right fielder Yasiel Puig, shortstop Hanley Ramirez, and first baseman Adrian Gonzalez at the top of the order. With Matt Kemp starting on the disabled list for the Dodgers, it will allow Andre Ethier to play and he is slotted fifth in the order as the center fielder. The rest of the batting order has third baseman Juan Uribe batting sixth, catcher A.J. Ellis seventh, and second baseman Dee Gordon in the eight spot. Starting pitcher hyun-Jin Ryu will bat ninth.
