Stewardship:

These are events to help restore habitat and facilitate the nesting of birds and breeding of native species as well as removing non-native vegetation.

The San Diego Audubon Society will be having a habitat restoration event at Mariner's Point to get ready for the upcoming least tern nesting season. Volunteers will be removing non-native plants and cleaning up the area so the terns can use it. Dress in work clothes and sturdy shoes and don't forget sun protection. Volunteers under 17 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver for each child and children under 13 must be accompanied by a parent. This event starts at 9AM and runs to 12PM. Email Danielle Heckman at heckman@sandiegoaudubon.org for more information, directions, or to volunteer. Snacks and water will be provided.

The Friends of the San Diego River Mouth will be running a habitat restoration event on Saturday, January 28th from 9AM to Noon. Meet at Dog Beach in Ocean Beach. Activities include native plant rescue, trail maintenance, watering, and removing invasive plants. There will also be an educational walking tour. Call 619-297-7380 for more details or e-mail them at volunteer@sandiegoriver.org.
