Now that the summer is in full swing and the 4th of July has set the local craft beer scene back a notch with massive amounts of 30-pack canned beer being consumed, here is a look forward to the rest of the month and the plethora of craft beer events in the greater San Diego area:

Ballast Point 18th Anniversary Beer Festival
I poured at this event last year, and will again this year (follow my instagram or twitter @craftbeerluv to find out which station I'll be at) and its a great event. Awesome views, brews and people. You'd be hard pressed to find a better birthday bash for an 18 year old.

To celebrate our 18th Anniversary, we're bringing the party back to the Maritime Museum of San Diego! Walk aboard the Star of India, the Berkeley ferry, and all of the museum's historic vessels and sample beers at 9 different locations throughout the ships and museum. We will feature around 50 Ballast Point beers including some rare and limited options we've been saving for just this type of special occasion. Plus, this year you will also have an opportunity to sample from our spirits and mixers as well. Live Music on several stages Food for purchase from local vendors Tickets are $40.00 per person and includes: • Admission to the Maritime Museum of San Diego • 15 3-oz beer tasters • Souvenir taster glass • Up to three 1/4 oz spirits samples (each will count as one beer sample) See you onboard! All proceeds to benefit the Maritime Museum of San Diego.

Mike Hess Brewing Co. 4th Anniversary
I dont mean to brag, but I have an original Hess tshirt from the opening of the original joint in Miramar. Also one or two glasses from the anniversaries previous. Hard to believe they've been brewing that amazing Umbrix (Formerly Ex Umbris) Rye Imperial Stout for so many years. Cheers!

The Heroes Brew Craft Beer Festival returns to San Diego on Saturday, July 26, 2014
at the Embarcadero. The beer festival features more than 40 breweries along with food trucks, a costume contest and live music performed on a solar powered stage. The Lost Abbey / Port Brewing Christmas in July
St. Nicholas makes his way to the Port Brewing and The Lost Abbey Tasting Room for the 6th Annual release of Bourbon Barrel-aged Santa’s Little Helper (Port’s Imperial Stout) and a Christmas in July celebration to benefit The Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation on Saturday, July 19th, 2014. As in previous years, the event will be split in two sessions: 11am – 3pm and 4pm to 8pm.

Whether you’ve been naughty or nice through the first 6 months of 2014, as long as you bring an unwrapped toy (valued at $15 or more) you’re in! Does your Automatonophobia make it impossible to shop in a Toy Store? Not a problem, for just $15 at the door you’re set to join us for food, fun, entertainment and photos with Santa all included! (This is a Family-Friendly event)

Hop-Con 2.0 The w00tstout Festival
Last years celebration of nth degree beer geekery is back for round two. Thespian and renaissance man Wil Wheaton, online news guru Drew Curtis and multi-talented actress and comedian Aisha Tyler collaborated on Stone w00tstout 2.0, a massive yet seductive imperial stout brewed with wheat, flaked rye, pecans and stoneground chocolate, then partially aged in Kentucky Bourbon barrels. To share it with the world in style befitting such a special beer, the trio will converge to meet, greet, revel and imbibe with fans of the beer, as well as the passion and originality w00tstout represents. This wont be about awkward handshakes, high-fives, selfies and autographsjust general and rampant merriment and celebrating all things geeky in a relaxed festive atmosphere with great food and awesome craft beer. Well also have the 2013 and 2014 vintages of the beer on tap to try side-by-side along with some unique creations for the night!
