Wrestling fans around the world have been waiting for the icon known as Sting to appear in WWE, and he has yet to actually arrive in the ring, but he has shown his face. On July 24, 2014, WWE Universe tweeted that Sting had made a surprise appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con 2014 to appear on the panel for WWE and Mattel figures.
Sting was not alone on the panel at SDCC as he was joined by Hulk Hogan, Daniel Bryan, and Paul Heyman to make an excellent representation for WWE.
WrestleZone reported that a new Sting action figure was in the works from Mattel, and that has now been confirmed. The panel at San Diego Comic-Con is the first time that Sting has officially shown up for a WWE-sponsored live appearance.
This past week, it was unveiled that Sting would be a playable character in WWE 2K15. The announcement was done perfectly in a short commercial shown on "Raw," and it looked like Sting was in great shape.
Upon appearing at the panel for SDCC, Sting looked to be in even better shape than seen in the commercial from a week ago. He received a standing ovation from all in the room including Daniel Bryan, Hulk Hogan, and Paul Heyman.
A very short video of Sting also appeared on WWE's Instagram account that showed the icon backstage and preparing to go out for the panel. The video showed his back to the camera, he turned around and simply said, "It's showtime."
There's still no word on if or when he will appear in a WWE ring, but it seems the unlikely possibility is getting closer than ever.
