A former employee of San Diego Christian College:Teri James is suing the college because they allegedly fired her for being pregnany and unmarried. The school then offered her job to her Fiance at the time.
She was 29 at the time, and isgned a two page contract that also held a clause that she was not to "engage in sexually immoral behavior" and that clause went on to include premarital sex.
James reports that she was humiliated when her supervisor brought her into his office last fall and fired her. She told the Today show that she was unmarried, and pregnant and they took away her livelihood.
There have been many legal battles with women who had become pregnancy in a premarital circumstance. In Florida lsat year a case was moved to trial when a teacher was fired for her premarital pregnagny. Some teachers have decided to leave schools that require lifestyle contracts in order to work there.
A third of the staff at Shorter University a southern baptist college decided to quit rather than sign a lifestyle contract.
