On Saturday, May 3, San Diego’s Mysterious Galaxy bookstore will celebrate California Bookstore Day. The Northern and Southern California Independent Booksellers Associations have organized the event to help promote independent bookstores as an integral part of the communities where they do business.

California Bookstore Day is intended to bring together authors and publishers in a celebration of the written word. During the event, thirteen books and art pieces created for this event will be available.

For the San Diego event, Mysterious Galaxy will host an afternoon spotlight with three young adult authors. Kimberly Derting, YA romance and science fiction author, will be signing “The Taking.” Alyson Noël, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Soul Seeker series will be signing “Horizon.” And, Margaret Stohl, coauthor of the New York Times bestselling Beautiful Creatures series will sign “Icons.”

In addition to signing, the authors will discuss their latest works and share their appreciation of independent booksellers and what these stores bring to the community.
