While Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month2013 (LSSM) ended January 31, some of the best deals are offered in January learning programs continue throughout the winter at venues throughout the U.S. Many local Southern California ski areas are participating and will have the details of savings on their websites.
Most ski and snowboard areas are open at least through March and some stay open well into spring depending on snow conditions. “There is plenty of time to practice newly-learned skills,” said Mary Jo Tarallo, LSSM director. “Super Bowl Sunday is an ideal day to hone new skills. Many venues have special offers because people tend not to go to the slopes that day.”
Those who learned how to ski or snowboard during January might consider bringing a friend who also wants to learn in February and March. The Bring a Friend Challenge continues until March 17. Anyone who helps a friend or family member sign up for lessons from a professional instructor is eligible to win product and trip prizes from LSSM organizers. Prizes include hats from San Diego based Seirus. Three Grand prize trips to Sun Valley, Utah or Vermont will be drawn after the Challenge ends on St. Patrick’s Day.
In the meantime, snow sports enthusiasms can also win a $500 gift certificate, a multi-purpose-jacket from The North Face, and a collection of Warren Miller action films by entering a short video in the “Why I Love to Ski or Ride” Video Contest. The contest is for amateur videographers.
