The official start to San Antonio’s Stock Show and Rodeo is the Western Heritage Parade and cattle drive. The San Antonio Convention Center and Visitors Bureau and Pioneer, take us back to the old west on Saturday, Feb. 1, with a Texas Longhorn cattle drive through the heart of downtown San Antonio. The parade runs along Houston Street starting at I-35 near Christus Santa Rosa Hospital and ends at the Alamo.

The entire family will enjoy a firsthand look at a variety of Texas Longhorn cattle escorted by old west drovers. The cattle are followed by cavalry units and horse drawn wagons and a variety of musical talent to help celebrate our Texas heritage.

Admission is free and includes children and family games and activities in the Alamo Plaza area from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The parade begins promptly at 11 a.m. so come early to get a great spot.
