If you missed the San Antonio Cocktail Conference last year, you have another chance later this month. It will be held downtown from January 17th to 20th. This is now an annual event for top bartenders and those wanting to improve their skills. There will be a variety of seminars and tastings plus cocktail parties throughout the 4 day event.
The schedule of activities includes competitions and prizes. The city of New Orleans has a similar event called "Tales of the Cocktail" and San Antonio is carving out its own version.
Classes and seminars range from topics such as "The History of Hotel Bars" and "Tales of Tito's"-the story of the first Texas distriller, Tito Beveride, founder of Tito's Handmade Vodka" and "Mixology 101 Workshop". Some of the local venues include the Majestic Theater, St. Anthony Hotel, Menger Bar and the Gunter Hotel.

This is not just a way to bring the best bartenders together but it also benefits the "HeartGift" organization of San Antonio. The mission of this dedicated group of medical professionals is "to provide lifesaving heart surgery to disadvantaged children from developing countries where specialized treatment is scarce or non-existent".
