The start of the new school year is coming up and the San Antonio Children’s Museum is hosting two events aimed at celebrating the end of summer and helping kids get ready for school. The annual Back to School Bash is on Saturday August 9 and the second annual Ser Padres Day Celebration is on Saturday August 16, 2014. These events are free and open to the public and will give local families the chance to explore the museum with free admission for children and adults.

The Back to School Bash is set for Saturday August 9, 2014 from 9a.m. to 12p.m. Visitors to the museum will get to explore the exhibits, participate in educational activities and take home free gifts while supplies last. This event is in partnership with KLRN, the local PBS station, and characters from the PBS show Peg + Cat will be available for a meet and greet.

Ser Padres Day is on Saturday August 16, 2014 from 9a.m. to 1:30p.m. Ser Padres Magazine and the San Antonio Children’s Museum are bringing the second annual Ser Padre Day. Families can take advantage of free admission and enjoy a morning of arts and crafts, storytelling, dance performances, kids’ yoga, magic shows, face painting and more. The editors and staff of Ser Padres Magazine will be on site taking part of the celebration.

Ser Padres Day is just one of the events taking place during the annual Kidcation Week. Kidcation Week is a ten day city wide celebration from August 8 through August 17 that includes special offers on hotels, restaurants and attractions.
