It is amazing that anyone would not recognize Samuel L. Jackson at this point in his career. That is exactly what happened though and on Feb. 10, the New York Daily News dished the shocking (and hilarious) details.
In 2011, Samuel L. Jackson became the highest grossing actor of all time. He has more than 100 movies under his belt and is arguably one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood. As he put it, "We don't all look alike."
So it was justifiable, when entertainment reporter Sam Rubin mistook Jackson for Laurence Fishburne, that he would get a little upset. Not only did Jackson get upset though but despite several attempts from Rubin to redirect the interview, Jackson wouldn't let it go. It was a sad day for Rubin but certainly made for some very entertaining video.
It all started when Samuel L. Jackson sat down with KTLA entertainment reporter Sam Rubin to talk about his upcoming film, "Robocop." Rubin was quick to put both feet in his mouth after asking Jackson about his Superbowl commercial. The problem is, Jackson wasn't in a Superbowl commercial. However, Laurence Fishburne was.
Quick on his feet, Jackson lashed out at Rubin. He told the very embarrassed reporter:
There’s more than one black guy doing commercials. I’m the ‘What’s in your wallet?’ black guy. [Fishburne's] the car black guy. Morgan Freeman is the other credit card black guy. You only hear his voice though, so you probably won’t confuse him with Laurence Fishburne.
Jackson went on to inform Rubin that "there must be a very short line for your job." In the end, Rubin apologized profusely and really tried to clean up his mess. The mistake was huge though and while mistakes happen, how could he confuse Samuel L. Jackson with Laurence Fishburne?
