Samsung's latest, the Galaxy S5, has sold over 11 million units world wide

Samsung's Galaxy S5 is popular as evidenced by $11 million in worldwide sales reported May 15 on DigitalTrends.com. This is Samsung's latest offering, a good sized Android phone wiht a big, bright display. Verizon Wireless, Best Buy, AT&T and allo t he usual outlets are offering the Samsung Galaxy S 5 smartphone now. Samsung Galaxy S 5 is water and dust resistant. It offers a fingerprint sensor, following in the footsteps of Apple's iPhone 5s. This phone comes in black or white at Verizon, and it supports the Samsung Galaxy Gear and Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatches.

Price: Samsung Galaxy S 5 costs $199.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year activation. Unlocked it costs more.

Display: Samsung Galaxy S 5 has a full high definition (HD) 5.1-inch screen with 1920 by 1080 pixels. Compare this to the 5-inch screen on Nokia Lumia and the 4-inch screen on the iPhone 5, 5s and 5c.

Cameras: Samsung Galaxy S 5 has a 16 megapixel rear camera along with a full set of editing tools, plus a 2.1 megapixel front facing camera.

Operating system: Samsung Galaxy S 5 uses the Android KitKatĀ® 4.4.2 operating system.

Microchip: Samsung Galaxy S 5 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon quadcore processor rated at 2.5 gigahertz.

Security features: Quoting from Verizon's press release: "Users can track their devices using GPS, lock/unlock it, remote wipe their data and more. The software also includes a Reactivation Lock option to stop other people from reactivating the device and doing a factory reset."
