On Wednesday afternoon, Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy Note 3, which has a 5.7 inch 1080p screen. Unlike previous Samsung devices, the Galaxy Note 3 has a faux leather backing. It is a significant improvement from the Galaxy Note 2, which this column named the best technology device of 2012.
Unfortunately, those who were hoping to get their hands on this device will have to wait a couple of weeks as the device won't launch globally until September 25. We initially heard that the device would land on Verizon before any of the other carriers, but this doesn't appear to be the case anymore.
It appears that the software enhancements are real and not gimmicks like they are on the Galaxy S4. A new S-Pen feature actually allows you to link to menu items and phone calls with scribbled notes. The updated S-Note application appears to be the most advanced note-taking app to date. In addition, new Note 3 adopters will receive a year's worth of premium Evernote access to sweeten the deal.
We will update this story with new information as it comes in. We can hardly wait to get our hands on this device!
