Press images of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Tab 4 series tablets have surfaced online, suggesting an imminent release date. As Ubergizmo reports (March 30), renown Twitter leaker, @evleaks posted photos of the new Galaxy Tab series tablets.
The first set of pics show off the 7-inch Galaxy Tab 7.0 tablet in both black and white, followed by the 10-inch Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 model in the same color variants. Previous leaks outed the specs for the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 and Galaxy Tab 4 10.1, along with an 8-inch model
An announcement of the Galaxy Tab 4 tablets was expected to occur at Samsung’s Unpacked 5, Galaxy S5 phone unveiling in February. After skipping the rumored reveal date, the Galaxy Tab 4 tablets’ new press renderings are an indication that the devices could be launching soon.
Although @evleaks did not mention a release date for the tablers, as GSMArena predicts, the images reveal an April 24 date on the homescreen, possibly hinting that the Galaxy Tab 4 tablets could arrive this Spring.
According to leaks, specs of the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 include a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU alongside 1GB of RAM, a 3MP primary camera on the rear and a front-facing 1.3MP shooter. The 7-inch display is said to feature WXGA TFT technology, with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Rumors also suggest that the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 will house 8GB of internal storage, expandable via a microSD slot that holds up to 64GB. Powering the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS tablet will be a non-removable 4,450 mAH battery, 450 mAH more than its predecessor, the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 tablet.
As for the specs of its larger sibling, leaks place a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM under the hood of the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 tablet. The 10-inch display, which is also likely to also be a WXVA TFT LCD screen, will also have a pixel resolution of 1280 x 800.
As Liliputing reports, leaked benchmark test data suggests the CPU on deck is a Snapdragon 400 from Qualcomm and supports an Adreno 305 GPU. The Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 is expected to offer 16GB of storage space, also expandable via a 64GB supporting microSD slot.
Like it’s 7-inch sibling, there’s also a built-in 3MP main camera on the back and a 1.3MP front-facing snapper. Also running Google’s latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the tablet is powered by a non-removable 6,800 mAH battery.
Pricing of the tablets are unknown, but could remain within the same price range as the previous Galaxy Tab 3 models. As per Samsung’s official site, the suggested retail price of the 8GB Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (Wi-Fi) is $199.99, while the 16GB Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 (Wi-Fi) is $399.99.
Both models are currently on sale for $179.99 and $329.99, respectively. The price drop may be another hint that the release date for the Galaxy Tab 4 series tablets is around the corner.
