As the Samsung Galaxy S5 official unveiling nears, a Korean securities firm leak reveals the hardware specs for the anticipated smartphone. The pdf document details that an Exynos 6 processor or a Snapdragon 805 will be the choice CPU for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy series flagship device.

According to PhoneArena Monday (Feb. 3), KDB Daewoo Securities Research firm outs the Samsung Galaxy S5 specs in a report sent to customers. Details within the report reveal that the Galaxy S4 successor will feature a 64-bit 2 GHz Exynos 6 Octa processor or possibly a Qualcomm 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805.

Samsung could release two models of the Galaxy S5 as it did with its predecessor, the Galaxy S4. Depending on the region, the Galaxy S4 comes with either an Exynos 5 Octa or a quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor.

Benchmark tests comparing both variants of the Galaxy S4 ended in mixed results with close final scores. In Galaxy S4 quadrant tests, Engadget said it was unable to conclude if one CPU was better than the other. The performance of both versions of the S4 were proven pretty much identical in real-life usage scenarios from daily tasks to high-end gaming graphics.

Typical of Samsung, it’s likely that the U.S. version of the Galaxy S5 will feature the Snapdragon 805 while the Exynos 6 Octa model will be released internationally. Along with CPU info, the securities firm report also reveals that the Galaxy S5 features a 5.2-inch to 5.25-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and a pixel density of 560 ppi. On deck are 3GB of RAM to handle multi-tasking, a 16MP rear camera and a 3.2MP front camera.

Samsung is expected to skip the 16GB and offer the Galaxy S5 in storage variants of 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. The report disputes previous rumors of a 4,000mAh battery and has a 3,200mAh battery powering the device instead. Android 4.4 KitKat will the be the stock OS for the S5, likely able to update to the latest KitKat 4.4.2 version. With the amount of rumors surrounding the Galaxy S5, it's wise to take all of this information with a grain of salt.

Coinciding with previous rumors of a first quarter 2014 reveal of the latest Galaxy series flagship phone, Samsung announced Monday that its holding an “Unpacked 5” event on February 24 in Barcelona. The rumored Galaxy Gear 2 watch may also debut at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, which takes place in Barcelona February 24-27.
