Sample of new Van Halen song and track listing from new LP

Van Halen fans don't have to wait to get a taste of what is the first new Van Halen track from their forthcoming record, "A Different Kind of Truth." A sample of the track is available on line. The track is a very earthy and organic sounding "Tattoo" You can listen to the new track by clicking the left of the article. The song will be released to radio on Tuesday, January 10.

This is the first new track with David Lee Roth in several years. Roth's vocals could be heard on to two forgetable numbers on Best of Van Halen, Volume I  released in 1996.

Upon first listen, it is apparent that the track possesses the classic Van Halen "brown sound"  but what is notably absent is Michael Anthony's trademark background vocals. The lack of Anthony's vocals on the new record will be a key missing component and will leave long time Van Halen fans that have been clamoring for new material with Roth, wanting a bit.

Those that attended the intimate and successful New York City small club show saw the band debut another new song "Woman, “which is expected to appear on the album. It is actually a re-worked track that the band had in their coffers sometime back but never saw the light of day. Unlike the song, ‘Tattoo" which is a lower octane number.

According to Andrew McNeice at Melodic Rock, the track listing is as follows:

1. Tattoo
2. She's The Woman
3. You and Your Blues
4. China Town
5. Blood and Fire
6. Bullethead
7. As Is
8. Honeybabysweetiedoll
9. The Trouble With Never
10. Outta Space
11. Stay Frosty
12. Big River
13. Beats Workin'

The mighty Van Halen's massive North American tour in support of the new record kicks off on February 18 in Louisville, KY and run through June. Tickets for the tour go on sale January 16.

The band was last up in the Pacific Northwest in 2007, playing a sold out show at Seattle's Key arena.

Van Halen will be back in the region this spring to play the Tacoma Dome, May 5 and then head up to Vancouver and play the Rogers Arena on May 7th.
