Whilst October 31st is the traditional day that children don costumes and perambulate the neighborhoods trick or treating, many Pagans near Anaheim celebrate this time of year with a variety of both solemn and joyous occasions which mark the turning over of the year, the day the veil is drawn, the time when ancestors and spirits are closer or even visiting us.
Many Pagans celebrate within multiple traditions, honoring loved ones who have passed in many different ways.
Dion-Isis will be hosting a Samhain/Dia de los Muertes celebration in her own home in the LA area on November 2. Participants can arrive at 4pm to assist in building the altar, and the celebration will commence at 5pm. Attendees are encouraged to bring food to share in the spirit of the holiday, as well as an offering for the altar and a picture of someone meaningful who has passed away. Please RSVP to Reverend Dee at (310) 371-0274.
The Long Beach Pagan Meetup has two events on this All Hallows' weekend. On Saturday at 630pm, celebrate with a Wiccan Samhain ceremony at a private residence. On Sunday at 9pm, honor your ancestors in a Strega themed ritual, also at a private residence. Join the Long Beach Pagan Meetup group to RSVP and for more information.
This time of year for many faiths it is a time where the old fades and dies away, and life enters a quiet, colder phase. Pagans near Anaheim can honor this change alone or with friends.
