This past Tuesday, SAME SKY jewelry celebrated the launch of its collection being available at Calypso St. Barth stores by hosting a party at the Calypso St. Barth store on the Upper East Side. Special guests in attendance included SAME SKY founder Francine LeFrak, Debbie Bancroft, Carol Campbell, Doris Day, Linda Kaplan, Carrie Karabelas, Lavelle Olexa, Sheri Pasquarella, and Claudia Walters. SAME SKY gives women in poverty around the world jobs to lift them up. The core vision of the organization is to “provide the dignity of work to all women under the same sky.”
At the event, SAME SKY showcased its Sky necklaces ($350 – $375) and its Hope necklaces ($395). In addition to the jewelry being beautiful, it is impressively handmade by women who were taught by SAME SKY to become employed, skilled artisans. The entire proceeds from each piece of jewelry sold goes toward the organization to give more women in need the chance to be skilled artisans.

I had the chance talk to SAME SKY founder Francine LeFrak about the organization. She mentioned that she really felt inspired to start this initiative because the idea of empowering underprivileged women to grow and make something for themselves was uplifting. She believes in “hand-ups and not handouts.” She relayed that SAME SKY has thus far sold 40,000 pieces of jewelry so the organization is truly making a difference. Be sure to check out the SAME SKY collection online or at Calypso St. Barth stores!
