Same on Sunday: Sounders Academy teams again win and draw

It was the first weekend of action for the Sounders FC USSDA teams and after four matches both are undefeated. See Sounders FC recap of the matches here.

On Saturday the U-16's won while the U-18's drew, and it was the same again on Sunday. The U-16's beat the San Diego Surf 3:1 while the U-18's scored their first goals of the season in a 2:2 draw with the Surf at Starfire Sports Stadium.

The U-16's are in first place in the Northwest Division with six points. In the early season Seattle's Crossfire Premier are in second with a point.

The U-18's are in second place behind Crossfire, 4 standing points to two.

Chris Coulter of www.SoundersPhotos.com was at Sunday's U-16 match and shares the photos in this article as well as a few observations below.

In the early game, the U-18 drew 2-2 with what was described to me as a chippy affair.  I was told that Sean Okoli had both goals for Seattle.

The Sounders U-16 won 3-1.

1-0   at half on a PK—taken by Jordan Schweitzer (#21 for this game).

The Sounders conceded a PK early in the 2nd half to tie the game up.

The Sounders then pulled away with a goal in the run of play from Michael Steele and later Stefan Bangsund converted another PK.

Coaches Sigi Schmid, Tom Dutra and TV/Radio analyst Alan Hinton were in the stands watching the U-16 team in action.  A few Emerald City Supporters guys showed up and had a drum—definitely added a cool atmosphere to the U-16 match.  The coaches were sure to send the youngsters over to applaud the support after the match.  Very cool to have supporters show up for the kids.---Chris
