A good samaritan and animal rescue volunteer in Houston, Katie Morin, along with her neighbor are looking for the owner of a female cattle dog with a pink zebra striped collar found in Katy, Texas at the entrance of the Katy Freeway near Grand Parkway. The dog was seen running onto the freeway and despite the best efforts to save her tragedy struck and she was hit by a car and did not make it.
The two compassionate ladies brought the dog home for a proper burial but would like to find her family to report the traumatic news and return the dog’s collar. If anyone is missing a cattle dog or knows someone who is please contact Katie Morin at (832) 766-5146 for more information and identification. Katie can also be reached on Facebook here.
Katie describes the dog as, “This girl has a black face, white body with black ticking and a few black spots in the center of her back. Her feet almost had a brownish tint to them. She wore a pink zebra collar and she is around 1yr old and in decent shape and body weight, I'd say around 50lbs. She has no tail at all, not even a little nub.”
Katie posted the following heartbreaking memorial on Facebook late yesterday looking for the owners of this poor dog:
“RIP to the poor cattle dog female with a pink zebra striped collar that got hit trying to run up the entrance to Katy Freeway by Grand Parkway. My neighbor saw you and tried to turn around to get you but by the time they made it all the way back around the freeway you had already been run over. She came to get me and we came to get you so that you did not have to suffer being run over that many more times and just in case you were still alive... I'm sorry that you were already gone please know that I will try to find your owners and let them know, you were healthy so it looks like they would care. You will have a proper burial thanks to my neighbor if we can't locate your owners... Rip baby girl.
Feel free to call 832-766-5146 I will answer as many questions as I can about her if you think you may be the owner. I'm sorry for your loss.”
If everyone cared as much as these ladies there would be no animal cruelty in this world. Katie volunteers for Neglected Doggies and Kitties of the Katy Trailer Park and Triple K Adoptables rescue groups.
