Samantha Rizzuto will represent New Jersey at this year's Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant.
The Teens in Training Camp is affiliated with the Miss America Organization. It offers pageant training to girls ages 13-17.
Rizzuto has been a part of the Miss America Organization for several years. She was first runner-up at last year's New Jersey's Outstanding Teen Pageant.
The teen pageant is the younger-sister competition within the Miss America Organization.
Like the Miss America competition, the teen pageant awards college and university scholarships to contestants and winners.
While the Miss America competition is for women ages 17-24, the teen pageant is for girls ages 13-18.
Judging is similar for both pageants. Miss America contestants are judged on the basis of talent, evening gown, swimsuit and interview competitions.
The teen pageant, however, has a sportswear competition rather than swimsuit judging.
If Rizzuto wins the national pageant, she will become the first New Jersey contestant to wear the national crown.
Miss New Jersey’s Outstanding Teen 2009 Brenna Weick was first runner-up at the national pageant.
