Rising music star Sam Smith believes in finding love the old fashioned way. The “Stay with Me” singer has made an entire album about unrequited love, but refuses to give up on finding that special someone. In an interview with Metro published Tuesday, the hitmaker made it clear that he won’t be using popular dating apps Tinder or Grinder to find Mr. right and urged those who do use it to give it up.

The young musical artist has quite the old soul when it comes to dating. The popular apps have made it easy for people to hookup, but in Smith’s opinion, they are taking away from the romance. He told Metro, “No offense to people who go on Tinder but I just feel like it’s ruining romance, I really do.”

Of course, different people have different experiences, but Smith believes using these apps also takes away from the possibility of meeting that potential mate based on what’s inside as the apps are aimed more at finding a connection based on physical attraction. He continued, “From my experience, the most beautiful people I’ve been on dates with are the dumbest so why would I swipe people who are ‘unattractive’ when I could potentially fall in love with them? Stop Tinder and Grindr!”

He feels people are “losing the art of conversation” because of these apps. The 22-year-old British singer is using himself as an example. His anti-cyber approach to dating has landed some good results for him. He admits that he is now good at dates, but that wasn’t always the case. He said, “I used to get really nervous but now I’m better. There is one particular guy that I’ve been on a few dates with. I like him but who knows?”
