Sam Smith feels incredible after maintaining his 50-pound weight loss for almost a year. Sam credited a low carb Paleo-style diet and gym workouts for his jaw-dropping slim-down.
Smith began his weigh loss journey in March 2015, when he lost 14 pounds in 14 days after adopting a Paleo-inspired diet, as Examiner previously reported. Sam has since lost an additional 36 pounds and has been chronicling his weight loss on Instagram by sharing gym selfies and photos of his meals.
Sam credited British nutritionist Amelia Freer's book, Eat Nourish Glow, for his rapid weight loss, Celebrity Health & Fitness reported. Smith said the diet principles in "Eat Nourish Glow" helped him lose weight quickly and improved his health.
While Smith has been criticized for becoming too skinny, he's thrilled with his 50-pound weight loss, and with his improved energy and health. The former couch potato said losing weight inspired him to start exercising.
I know this is very preachy, but if you can, try to find a way to be healthy. It will make you so much happier."
Amelia Freer champions a gluten-free Paleo style diet comprised of high-quality proteins such as organic eggs, free-range chicken and lots of organic vegetables. Freer avoids dairy, alcohol, processed foods, sugar and grains in her diet.
Amelia said her eating principles most closely resemble the Paleo diet, an alcohol-free diet that emphasizes healthy fats, high-quality animal proteins, non-starchy vegetables, and excludes gluten, sugar, dairy, legumes and processed foods. The Paleo diet has a huge celebrity following, including Tim McGraw, who lost 40 pounds with a low-carb Paleo diet and CrossFit workouts.
Amelia said her diet is not a weight loss plan but a food philosophy that emphasizes nourishing your body with real food. Sam Smith agrees. “It’s not even about weight loss," Sam wrote on Instagram. "It’s about feeling happy in yourself."
