The casting possibilities for the character Finnick Odair in "The Hunger Games" has been a hot topic on the internet for months, but the speculations can all stop now. Lionsgate has cast 26-year-old Sam Claflin in the coveted role.

Claflin, who’ll make his first Hunger Games appearance in "Catching Fire", is best known for his role in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" and for playing William in "Snow White & the Huntsman" opposite Kristen Stewart.

Fans of the series had been rallying for Jesse Williams ("Grey’s Anatomy", "Cabin in the Woods") to land the role. Many of them were hoping to see a person of color playing Finnick, which Claflin is not.

The character of Finnick Odair doesn't appear until the second two books/movies, Catching Fire and Mockingjay, and is described as an extremely handsome man with "tan skin" (also referred to as "golden"), "bronze-colored hair" and "incredible" sea-green eyes.

Other recent additions to the cast include Amanda Plummer as Wiress and Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee. According to Just Jared, “Oscar winner Melissa Leo is the frontrunner for the role of Mags, while Emmy winner Tony Shalhoub is being courted for the role of Beetee.”

"Catching Fire" is set to hit theaters on November 22, 2013.
