Because of the small percentage of actual patrons in Harrisburg, there aren’t all that many bars to choose from or at least none that repeat what another bar does. As a result, you have a strip of bars that are vastly different from one another. There is a hardware bar, an Irish pub and even a bar that my friends affectionately call the “Whoosh Peacock Bar.” It was astonishing to find that the dance floor of the hardware bar had been remodeled and the dance cages removed to make room for an oversized dance floor. It was quite comical because there was only one extremely intoxicated girl dancing in the very center with many onlookers surrounding the floor. But moving along, there are several places that are not all that great.
There is one, however, that is exceptionally nice. Sam Bucca’s is a classy place, being labeled a Pizza Parlor and Pub doesn’t deter patrons from coming and drinking. The people are kind and the area is clean. As you enter and decide to sit at a table rather than at the crowded bar, a server comes and takes your orders. Everyone in the bar is sharply dressed and the music is quiet so you can hear those around you without straining or yelling. The DJ plays the most recent hits that air on the radio across America, giving you something great to listen to as you spend time with your friends playing pool or darts.
Overall, the prices left some green in your pocket and the floors were clean. The only downside to the whole experience is the bathroom. It’s as if you’re entering another world when you go into the restroom there. The sink looked as if it was going to fall off the fall at any moment, the floors were sticky and the wall stained with what I can only assume is urine. Despite all that though, they will be receiving return business from at least one patron. Perhaps next time a pizza will be an order.
