Salud to National Tequila Day

National Tequila Day is a perfect excuse to toast to the delicious liquor that is growing in popularity. With more than 45 million tequila drinkers, the U.S. consumes twice as much tequila as the liquid’s country of origin, Mexico. Some drinkers enjoy tequila without a mixer while others crave the tartness of a margarita. No matter the type of cocktail, a quality tequila is key to enjoying the beverage. On July 24, a tequila beverage is a perfect way to salud the holiday.

Casa Sauza is a great example of a distillery that is leading the category and is the force behind brands like Sauza Tequila, Sauza 901 and Hornitos. The world's number two premium tequila and margarita's favorite tequila has a long, storied history.

Some fun facts about the Casa Sauza heritage include:

  • Casa Sauza produces all its tequila in the same location it’s been using since 1873.
  • Agave plants at Casa Sauza are still harvested by hand by Jimadores. There is no school for Jimadores; it’s a skill that gets passed down from generation to generation.
  • Casa Sauza is one of the only major tequila producers to use agave in its raw form – pressing the piñas and then cooking the juice instead of cooking the entire piña.

In honor of National Tequila Day, Sauza Tequila is sharing some twists on the classic margarita. Raise your glass and toast the celebration.

Honey Ginger Sauza® -Rita

  • 1 part Sauza® Blue Silver 100% Agave Tequila
  • 1 part lemonade
  • 1 part ginger beer
  • 1 part water
  • ½ teaspoon honey
  • Lemon slices

Preparation: Combine lemonade, ginger beer, tequila, water, lemon slices and ½ teaspoon of honey in a glass filled with ice. Stir well to combine.

Spicy Sauza®-Rita

  • 1 part Sauza® Blue Silver 100% Agave Tequila
  • 2 parts beer
  • 1 part frozen limeade concentrate
  • 1 part water
  • A dash of hot sauce
  • Sugar (for garnish)
  • Salt (for garnish)
  • Red pepper (for garnish)
  • Chili pepper (for garnish)

Preparation: In a glass, combine all ingredients. Chill and serve in glasses rimmed with sugar, salt and red pepper. Garnish with a chili. Enjoy!


  • 1 part Sauza® Blue Silver 100% Agave Tequila
  • 1 ½ parts light beer
  • 1 part frozen limeade
  • 1 part water
  • Lime wedge (for garnish)

Preparation: In a glass filled with ice, combine Sauza® Blue Silver 100% Agave Tequila, limeade, beer and water. Stir gently. Garnish with a lime wedge (optional).
