One of the first panels in the auspicious Grand Ballroom was none other than actor Nicholas Brendon, best known in the sci-fi/fantasy as Xander in Joss Whedon's classic series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Now a regular on CBS's drama Criminal Minds, Brendon opened up about his days working on the cult classic, and about what may be in store.
When asked if a Buffy reunion is in the realm of possibility, Brendon said, "Well, Sarah [Michelle Gellar] has now said she would be interested in doing it. I guess there was a war of words between her and Alyson [Hannigan], which is weird because we're 10 years after the show, and they're having a war of words on Twitter, but that is now over. So who knows?"
Brendon then went on to discuss his relationship Buffy creator Joss Whedon, which he hopes to work with again in the future.
"Joss Whedon called me his Alec Guiness," Brendon fondly mused on. "It was like we could read each other's minds. Xander was essentially Joss, and Joss was essentially Xander...so I was Joss."
With his continuing role on Criminal Minds, Brendon is still managing to stay busy. His next movie Coherence is debuting in Austin, TX at Fantasy Fest, while another film Big Gay Love is set to bow this year as well. However, there is a chance that Brendon may be returning to Buffy universe in a different capacity.
"Well, I can't talk about it a lot right now," Brendon explained, "there's a chance I may doing some writing on the comic series."
