Salt Lake City bride dies on the way to her wedding in Las Vegas. Kristen Taylor and Greg Bennin were on I-15 on their way to Las Vegas Wednesday to get married when their car was struck from behind and they were involved in a deadly crash. The bride, Kristen Taylor, 25, died at the scene and Greg Bennin is stable, but may have to have an arm amputated.
The couple was near St. George when they slammed on their brakes behind one semi-truck in bad weather. Another semi came up behind them and the driver lost control of the truck and it slammed into Taylor’s car crushing them into the semi-truck in front of them. Her wedding dress could be seen the back seat of the crushed car in the live ABC 4 video from the scene.
Kristen Winter moved to Salt Lake City from Ohio to help found the K2 Rock Church in Salt Lake City. She met Greg Bennin at the church and the two of them took over the Church’s day care program.
Eric Winter, the outreach director for the K2 Rock Church told ABC 4:
"Kristen was when you knew her she was always very full of life and beautiful eyes that just lit up.” “They were going to have one of the greatest days of their life to get married,” he said. “So now, to have all that turned around and actually dealing with this tragedy is, it's been hard."
"It was something that was dear to their heart. They enjoyed serving," Winter said. "They did a great job with our kids and the kids loved them."
The couple was scheduled to get married tonight in Las Vegas, but instead a vigil is planned for Kristen Taylor at 7 pm at the K2 Rock Church in Salt Lake City.
