Theater companies and visual art are in many ways the perfect combination – both have a strong
visual element, are experiences that are enriched by serious discussion of the art with people who have seen it, and can embrace everything from literalness to abstraction with the same level of flair.
Also, art shows are really convenient to smooth over that wait time in the lobby before the show starts.
Salt Lake Acting Company is making the most of that particular partnership with their Salon 2010 art exhibit, which will kick off with an opening reception on August 8 in the Green Room starting at 6 p.m. (just before that night’s performance of “Saturday’s Voyeur” – tickets for the show will be available for purchase that night). Light fare and wine will be served at the event, which is free and open to the public.
The show, which will continue through this year’s run of “Voyeur,” consists of practicing artists that are in some way connected with Salt Lake Acting Company – actors, scene painters, board members, freelance photographers and even family members have been pooled for the exhibit. Among those who will be taking part include Pat Bagley (whose work is pictured at right), Mark Pett, Aaron Swenson, Kim Blackett, and a whole host of others.
