With so many beautiful, engrossing things going on onstage, it’s sometimes hard to remember just how many people have to be behind the curtain in order to make it all happen.
It’s been a big month for the people behind the scenes at Salt Lake Acting Company, with longtime stalwarts Kevin Myhre and Cynthia Fleming (pictured at right) named as SLAC’s new executive producers by the theater’s board of trustees. Nancy Borgenicht and Allen Nevins, the brains behind “Saturday’s Voyeur,” were also named as part of Salt Lake Magazine’s “20 Years of Utah’s Most Influential People.”
Those familiar with SLAC will already know Myhre, who is currently in his 16th season as the theater’s Producing Director and Resident Designer, and Fleming, who’s held various roles at the theater over the last 14 years (her most recent has been Creative Director of Communications and Audience Development). They were a huge impetus behind this season’s production of “Go, Dog. Go!”, the theater’s first-ever play for children (for those who saw the show, Fleming also did the choreography).
As for Borgenicht and Nevins, here’s a fun fact not mentioned in the (well-deserved) magazine accolades. In addition to her work at SLAC Borgenicht has also had a film career, and those looking to get a glimpse of her work are advised to Netflix either “Silent Night, Deadly Night” or “Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Meyers” (I haven’t seen the movie to help point her out, but she’s billed as the woman attendant).
