A large crowd gathered on Sunday at Frank Bonelli Park, in San Dimas, for the 8th Mi Son Cubano festival, marking the beginning of a series of Salsa events scheduled during the summer months.
The headliner for this festival was Cuban singer Rey Ruiz, who was backed on stage both by local musicians as well as some who traveled along with him.
Ruiz sang his Salsa romantica hits, such as “Amiga,” and between songs spoke directly to the ladies who gathered close by the stage, screamed for his attention, and threw kisses his way. At one point he sat down with this feet hanging over the edge, claiming that he had barely slept the night before during his trip to L.A.
Prior to Ruiz’s performance, three of Los Angeles' Salsa bands entertained the crowd as early at 12.30 pm – Orquesta Rumbankete, Orquesta Charangoa, and Johnny Polanco y su Conjunto Amistad.
