Unfortunately, each year more men and women die from heart disease than any other cause. Having diabetes puts people at a much higher risk for heart disease. However, most major forms of cardiovascular disease could be eliminated if individuals would live a healthy lifestyle.
If you already have diabetes, it is imperative to keep your blood pressure in the normal range. We already know that dark chocolate is beneficial for the heart. In addition, it is vital to keep your blood fats in the healthy range. What are blood fats? There are exactly two fats that circulate in your blood. Those two fats are triglycerides and cholesterol. Now there are two kinds of cholesterol the good (HDL) and bad (LDL). Basically, we want HDL high and LDL low. Studies have stated that if your total cholesterol is over 240 mg/dL your risk of heart disease doubles. In other words, I would not recommend eating a double cheese burger. It is important to keep your triglycerides below 200 mg/dL; otherwise you increase your risk for heart disease.
Since we know that the omega-3 fatty acids help to control cholesterol and fat levels why not consume foods that help the heart rather than harm the heart. Did you know that salmon is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids? Yes, it sure is and if you want to reduce the risk of heart disease and continue to have good circulation you can easily accomplish this by consuming salmon.
Be sure and buy only wild salmon, since the farm raised salmon are fed lots of chemicals to increase growth and production. What is so shocking is that they actually inject the salmon with chemical dyes to make them appear fresher. The chemicals that are injected into the salmon will cause weight gain and hormonal imbalances. The consumers need to be aware of what they're putting into their bodies. We have a right to know whether we are consuming any GMO's.
Wild salmon not only contains omega-3 fatty acids, but vitamins A, B-12, D, folate, and selenium. Vitamin A keeps the blood and nervous system in good working order. Vitamin D is beneficial for your bones and all 206 of them in your body will be happy you ate salmon. Now don't crack up over that one!
If you would like to have a healthy heart, you can start today!
