It was freezing at Pier 57 at 11 AM on February 8th. And although the orange, glowing poles of the set looked like they were heaters...they weren't.
So, it was a good thing Sally Lapointe's Fall/Winter Fashion Week show was captivating enough to momentarily take the shivering (and bundled up) audience's attention away from the cold.
Inspired by the song “In Your Room” by Depeche Mode, "the contrast between vulnerability and power" and including subtle references to "the 1980s, the city of Paris and lingerie", the collection included materials reminiscent of the ostentatious '80s, but sans the overt flashiness.
matte animal print sequin fabric, together with striking silhouettes provided drama and sensuality.
Drama was also key with the pale makeup (by Kabuki for MAC) and simply low-knotted (buns were big this season), parted-down-the-middle hair by Danilo for Pantene. Ditto, the substantial shoes and boots by Alejandro Ingelmo for Sally Lapointe.
This is a trendy, but classy collection, with something in it for everyone.
Guests included Selita Ebanks, Anne V, Leandra Medine, Linda Fargo, Olivia Sandelman and Fern Mallis. ,
