Sally Kirkland has had emergency surgery after a fall on Sunday night. According to TMZ on Feb. 13, Kirkland was at a L.A. film festival when she fell.
Kirkland was making her way to the stage at the Studio City Film Festival to receive her award for Best Actress in a dramatic short for the film “Posey,” when she fell. She not only broke her leg but also dislocated her ankle.
Kirkland was immediately rushed to the hospital after falling Sunday night. It was determined by doctors that Kirkland broke her leg in two places. Kirkland had emergency surgery on Monday to repair the breaks with a metal plate and screws.
TMZ was told by a representative for Sally Kirkland that she was in extreme pain. The surgery was successful and is in good spirits and optimistic. Kirkland has won a Golden Globe for Best Actress and she has been nominated for Oscar.
