A Salisbury University student remains in critical condition after she was shot by her ex-boyfriend, who fatally shot her male friend and then killed himself, just off the Eastern Shorex campus, police said. The shooting took place in the 100 block of Onley Road, just off the eastern edge of the campus, according to the Baltimore Sun on Wednesday, Sept. 4. Responding officers found three victims suffering gunshot wounds as the result of what's being described as a domestic dispute.
The shooter has been identified as Ryan Justin Shallue, 21, of Stevensville, Maryland. Police say Shallue was the former boyfriend of Kristen Renee Loetz, 20, who is currently enrolled at Salisbury, and is from the same town.
Shallue apparently went to Loetz's home and became entangled in an argument. That's when 19-year-old Charles Jacob Abbott attempted to intervene, and was killed by Shallue.
Shallue then aimed the semi-automatic handgun at his former girlfreind, before killing himself. Shallue was pronounced dead at the scene, according to delmarvanow.com.
"Never in my life have I witnessed him being violent ever", said Danny McQueeney, who calls himself one of Shallue’s best friends, going back to even kindergarten. "I don’t see that. I never will. Don’t get me wrong. I’m mad at him. (But) I know that’s not him, what he did".
Abbott was taken to the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, where he was pronounced dead.
Loetz was also taken to Peninsula Regional but was later flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma, where she remains critical condition.
