A Salisbury shooting leaves two dead and one in critical condition in what appears to be a domestic, murder-suicide shooting. Kristen Renee Loetz, 20, a student at Salisbury University, was shot by her ex-boyfriend, 21-year-old Ryan Justin Shallue, according to the Chicago Tribune on Sept. 4.
Shallue had traveled from Stevensville in Queen Anne’s County to see his ex-girlfriend Loetz. When he arrived at the Salisbury campus he found Loetz with a friend, Charles Jacob Abbot, 19.
An argument between Shallue and Loetz started and Shallue pulled out a gun. He shot Loetz and when Abbot tried to help his friend, he too was shot. The gunman then turned the gun on himself, taking his own life.
Shallue and Abbott both died in this shooting. Loetz was flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma where she is listed in critical condition. Abbot was originally taken to Peninsula Regional Hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
Today Abbott is called a hero for stepping in and trying to protect his friend Loetz after she was first shot by the gunman.
