The Salisbury shooting in Maryland near the area’s university has shocked the town, leaving many students on edge and the university to release an official statement on their webpage.
And now, hours after the shooting occurred, details have emerged, including the name of the killer.
According to ABC News, the killer’s name is Ryan Shallue. It is believed by police that she shot his ex-girlfriend and a friend. The friend, Charles Abbott, was killed, while the ex-girlfriend Kristen Loetz, survived and was flown to a Trauma center.
She is listed in critical condition.
Loetz also attended Salisbury University. And although it has yet to be announced publicly, it’s expected that the school will provide grief councilors to students finding it difficult to cope with such a tragedy.
Because of the nature of this horrific crime, the president of the school, Janet Dudley-Eshbach, posted this on the school’s official website about the shooting:
“Dear Members of the Salisbury University Campus Community:
Our prayers and condolences go out to the families and friends of those impacted by last evening’s tragic off-campus shooting. Sadly, relationship violence is a national issue and our campus is not immune to it.
Last night around 6 p.m. a Salisbury University student, Kristen Loetz, was seriously wounded and two male non-students killed following an argument at a residence on Onley Road, according to reports from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office. Charles Jacob Abbott, 19, of Hebron, was shot by Ryan Shallue of Stevensville, who then shot himself, reports indicated. Although the two young men are not registered as SU students, their deaths, too, are tragic.”
