Sales are underway as Macy’s closes store at Metcalf South Shopping Center.

The Macy’s store at the Metcalf South Shopping Center will close after 47 years at Metcalf Avenue and 95th Street. Clearance sales are underway and should last for 10 to 11 weeks.

Shoppers can benefit from discounts, currently at 30% to 50% off. Everything in the store will be sold.

The 88 employees at the Metcalf South location could be provided the opportunity to work at other Macy's locations in the Kansas City area.

The Overland Park Macy’s was not the only location affected by the store’s decision to layoff 2,500 employees. The Cincinnati-based company plans to close five stores and open eight others, leaving it with 844 stores in 45 states and Puerto Rico once the changes are complete. Most of the new stores are planned for warmer-weather climates including Florida.
