Probably no one on Earth gets into Halloween like Salem, MA. They are starting, and for the second year in a row, they have made it so no one will be costume-less (unless they want to anyways in which case, expect to be the odd one during the month of October!)
On Oct. 12, 2013 there will be a costume swap hosted by Salem Park Recreation & Community Services. Until then, bring any unused costume or perhaps what could be made into a costume to Salem Senior Center. Fee to enter the costume swap is $5, but if a costume is offered to swap, entry is free. A ticket will be given for a "new to you" costume.
This was created also to benefit the earth and recycle. According to the event Facebook page,
Swapping the costumes of only half of the children who celebrate Halloween would reduce annual landfill waste by 6,250 tons, equivalent to the weight of 2,500 midsize cars.
So see what can be given for others' costumes, and what can be creatively invented for a "new to you" costume. If one is not sure what to dress up for this year, he could use this event as a "Surprise me" event as he may not know what he can dress up as until this day.
