The "SALA Arts Social," a multi-disciplinary, multi-sensory arts event will be held Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden.
The event will celebrate the 12th year anniversary of the Arts at St. Johns, the non-profit organization that brings innovative and socially conscious arts programming to the community.
"In Spanish, the word "sala," means living room, a hall or a gathering place, where people come together for friendship and conversation. The guests of 'SALA' are as important as the event, because we are bringing interesting, creative and influential people from our Miami community together," said Carol Hoffman-Guzman, the organization's founding director.
The acronym "SALA," was also chosen because it stands for "Social Action, Local Arts," which reflects ASJ's vision, she added.
The event will feature music, dance and refreshments, along with interactive DJ music. The performances will feature many artists who have performed at ASJ over the years, including Tiffany 'Hanan' Madera, a Middle Eastern dancer.
The visual arts include a group show by the Artist Colony, a Miami artist collective. Also, Hoffman-Guzman and her husband Roberto Guzman, who have been collecting local and emerging artists for over 50 years, have donated a selection of paintings, graphics and assemblages for a silent auction.
Tickets can be purchased at the door or online.
