Deep Silver officially announced Saint's Row IV yesterday. Saints Row IV will be the first game in the franchise to be published by Deep Silver rather than THQ. According to the press release, it will also be a lot different from previous games in terms of gameplay and story.
The concept behind Saints Row IV revolves around an alien invasion. Although the leader of the Saints has been elected as the President of the United States, the aliens end up transporting the Saints crew to a bizarro-Steelport simulation.
Players will "wield gargantuan superpowers and fight to free humanity from alien granddaddy Zinyak’s mental grasp. Escape the simulation that’s trapped the Saints crew, or die trying." Superpowers include the ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound, outrun even the fastest sports cars, and manipulate enemies with the power of telekinesis. As you might expect, there will also be a variety of alien weapons and technology at your disposal.
Saints Row IV is scheduled to be released on August 20th in North America and then worldwide on August 23rd. It will be available on current gen consoles as well as PC. Check out some early screenshots in the slide show above.
