Those concerned whether the Saints Row franchise will have life after THQ can finally rest. A teaser trailer surfaced earlier today, revealing that Saints Row 4 is set to launch on August 23rd of this year. The brand new title will not be the “Enter the Dominatrix” DLC that had been cancelled for Saints Row 3, though an extended version of it is scheduled to release for this new title.
Saints Row 3 may have been silly and over-the-top, but developer Volition promises that their new game will take it even further. The ‘head honcho’ of the Saints is now president of the United States. Soon after an alien invasion, the characters are granted crazy superpowers, which include telekinesis and super speed.
Saints Row 4 will be published by Deep Silver, who purchased the IP and Volition at the THQ auction. The fourth installment in the franchise is currently being developed for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. No word as to whether the game will make it to next generation platforms, though it currently appears unlikely. Deep Silver has also stated that the game will not be released for Nintendo’s Wii U.
The debut trailer can be seen here.
