Saint Patrick's day can be a wonderful opportunity to both teach children history and teach them about the love of God and His plan for salvation. Here are some resources to help you do that.
Story of Saint Patrick
This is a very informative and accurate excerpt from a Veggie Tales video that tells of the life of Saint Patrick. This video is good for kids of all ages.
St. Patrick Day Craft
Most kids love crafts and this one will help them to understand some of symbolism that St. Patrick used to describe the Trinity. Click here to view directions to make a Saint Patrick's day shamrock. Colored or even white paper can be substituted for the foam.
Bible Lessons
Ministry-to-children.com has 2 very appropriate Bible lessons to do with kids on Saint Patrick's day. At the end of each lesson are links to additional resources such as crafts and coloring sheets related to the lesson. One of the suggested lessons is Jesus Said Love Your Enemies. This one is appropriate because even though Saint Patrick was sold into slavery in Ireland, he still obeyed God by going back and sharing the Good News of the Gospel with the Irish people. The other suggested Bible lesson is Jesus' Final Instructions and Ascension. This lesson is appropriate for Saint Patrick's day as it teaches how Jesus commanded all Christians to go forth and spread the Gospel, just as Saint Patrick did.
