The theme for Saint Laurent’s 2013 Fall collection was California grunge. Hedi Slimane presented his second collection for the House formerly known as Yves Saint Laurent. Yves Saint Laurent must be rolling over in his grave though to witness what Hedi has done to his House. No wonder the Pope resigned. Europe is finished. The Barbarians are at the gate.

models looked like human robots who think, and talk, and act all the same.
Hedi in just two collections; has turned YSL, into a derivative fast fashion inspired high-end label. One could easily go to H&M and purchase cheap knock offs of clothes shown in this Ready-to-Wear collection.
Zara has a league of designers; they are called copiers. They are fashion copiers. They can copy the clothes in this collection at a fraction of the cost. Why would you spend $800 on a plaid shirt from Saint Laurent , when you can purchase one from Zara for $45? The baby doll dresses, the schoolgirl slips, the vintage florals, the random mash-ups of sloppy cardigans, plaid shirts, and sparkly dresses that were accessorized with ironic strings of pearls and black bows, fishnets and biker boots; looked like they could have been purchased from Zara; so the question is what is Saint Laurent’s business model?
There was nothing here that said look at me; I’m wearing Saint Laurent; I spent a fortune – I have money that you don’t. There was nothing in this collection that had anything relevant to say. And by the look of the vacant faced models that came down the runway; they felt the same way.
This is Saint Laurent for Christ sakes; is this collection a joke? And are people really going to buy into this high-end grunge apparel that looks like Zara made it? Can anyone see Catherine Deneuve who sat in the front row wearing this? Biker boots, and a plaid shirt over a baby doll dress??
