Saint Joseph's and Connecticut had one common opponent this season, as both teams defeated Boston University during their non-conference slates.
Saint Joseph's makes their first appearance in the "Big Dance" since 2008, where they were eliminated in the first round by Oklahoma, who was led by then freshman sensation Blake Griffin.
The Hawks are playing in the East region, looking to win a game in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the magical 2003-04 season, where they advanced to the Elite Eight before losing by two against Oklahoma State.
The Hawks overcame an uneven start to make their way to the 2014 NCAA Tournament, splitting their first eight games including a 30-point thrashing at the hands of Villanova. It was the worst home loss in the Phil Martelli era at Saint Joseph's.
However, the Hawks rallied and have gone 20-5 since that low point of the season to garner their first NCAA Tournament berth in six seasons.
Thursday's game between Saint Joseph's and Connecticut is slated to tip-off at 6:55 p.m. and will be broadcast on TBS with Verne Lundquist and Bill Raftery calling the game while Allie LaForce will work the sidelines.
