The good guys and gals at Saint Arnold Brewing have just released the next beer in the Bishop’s Barrel series. The new beer is Bishop’s Barrel No. 7 and it’s an Imperial Russian Stout aged for nearly a year in Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels.
Each of the Bishop’s Barrel releases has been met with critical acclaim and has quickly become a fan favorite. The same is true with other creative releases, which are now commonplace at Saint Arnold.
"We focus heavily on the quality of beers we have been brewing for years, some of them for decades," said Brock Wagner, Saint Arnold Founder/Brewer. "But we have a talented brew crew that is always test brewing and developing new recipes. The result is an array of special releases this year. We believe we are only as good – and as interesting – as the last beer we brewed."
The Bishop’s Barrel series is certainly a testament to the Saint Arnold brew crew and its penchant for creative brewing genius. This latest release is dark black in color with flavors of bourbon and chocolate. The beer is a potent one, with an alcohol content of 11.3 percent by volume. The bitterness rating on Bishop’s Barrel No. 7 is 49 IBU.
