This new beer, Saint Arnold Icon Blue, is a brown porter and will mark the first time the good guys and gals at Saint Arnold have brewed porter. Brown porter is a little sweeter than other versions of porter and Saint Arnold is making sure to brew the beer in accordance with tradition.
"In honor of the style's roots, we used English malt and hops along with our Saint Arnold yeast that comes from a brewery in England," said Saint Arnold Founder/Brewer Brock Wagner. "Saint Arnold Icon Blue is a sessionable dark, medium bodied ale with rich chocolate malt notes and a distinct sweetness coming through as the beer warms up."
Here are some specifications for Saint Arnold Icon Blue:
Original Gravity: 1.052
Final Gravity: 1.0132
Alcohol: 5.1% ABV
Bitterness: 27 IBU
Saint Arnold releases a new Icon series beer about once every three months, timed roughly with the depletion of the previous Icon series supply. Icon Red, the previous release, has just about run its course. The new Icon Blue will take its place immediately.
Look for Saint Arnold Icon Blue in places where Saint Arnold is presently sold, in Texas and Louisiana markets. And enjoy this first ever porter from Texas’ oldest craft brewery, Saint Arnold Brewing.
